blog #4

The first book that I chose to blog about is the Tiger and Badger by Emile Jenkins. I chose this book because it reminds me so much of childhood friendships. The book is specifically about friendships and it teaches that even best friends can repetitively get in arguments and still maintain a close friendship. Tiger and Badger were the type of friends that would fight and argue over toys, chairs, and even oranges but always found ways to make one another laugh to forget about the anger. They would go back and forth saying really mean things to one another but always made up in the end. The book reminded me of my childhood when I literally fought with friends and played with them the next day as if nothing ever happened. I observed in this story that Tiger and Badger were hardly ever friendly toward one another but maintained a close friendship. Their confrontations with one another was never resolved in a healthy manner because they never talked things out with one another. They w...

blog #3 Andre Porter

The book that I chose to blog on is Pinkerton, Behave by Steven Kellogg. I chose to blog on this book because it is about a wild dog that struggles to follow all of the owner's commands. It reminds me of a child that always done the opposite of what their parents are instructing them to do but end up doing one major thing that will tremendously help their parents. Pinkerton was the type of dog that honestly could not understand his owner's commands. When the owner was telling the dog to come he jumped out of a window knocking over plants and everything. The owner felt very desperate and overwhelmed concerning this dog so they took him to a obedience school. This school did not benefit Pinkerton at all because he flunked out in record time. It was actually awesome that the dog flunked out because a burglar breaks into their home and the dog was able to put all of his wild bad habits to great use by catching the burglar. This book touched me in a very special way because animals...

Blog 2 My Friend Rabbit

The title of my honor book is My Friend Rabbit by Eric Rohmann and he is also the illustrator. The illustrations of this book is interesting because it displays a rabbit and a mouse playing with a toy airplane and it get stuck in a tree. This illustration felt like a reflection of my childhood because I use to play with toy airplanes at Lockhart Elementary School. When I observed the illustrations on this particular book the rabbit appeared to be full of trouble but very smart and spontaneous. The illustrations showed the rabbit randomly coming up with a spontaneous plan to get the airplane out of the tree such as stacking animals on top of one another. The rabbit appeared to be trouble with this plan because it was obvious that the animals was going to fall eventually. The animals was extremely angry with the rabbit when they fell and I noticed the mouse had to immediately come to the rabbit rescue because the other animals was reaching for him out of frustration. The background ...

Favorite book from childhood

My favorite book from childhood is if you give a mouse a cookie. This particular book was my favorite because throughout the story the boy does a lot of things for the mouse and never expected anything in return. The mouse would consistently ask and want something and the boy would give it and never ask for anything in return. This was a special relationship to me because it closely resembled the relationship between a parent and a child. I have a strong perspective that this book can influence children to discuss the friendships in their own lives and relate it to the similarities it has on the friendship between the mouse and the boy. I personally feel this book impacted me the most in childhood because it reflects on selflessness and it's application to our personal lives on a daily basis. This book taught me empathy as a child because I was consistently concerned about the well-being of others. I didn't read many books in my spare time during childhood because I was more p...
