blog post #3 Slice of life

My best writing moments was in 4th grade because I would naturally feel motivated and get an adrenaline rush when the teacher would consistently use my writing as an example to other students on how to effectively write. She would also call on me regularly to tutor other students in writing essays. The thing that excited me the most is knowing that my hard work was not going unnoticed. I was a very humble student so it was clearly not an ego thing with me. I took my writing extremely serious in 4th grade because I was passionate about writing and spelling contest. I strongly feel that it enhanced my motivation because feedback is very essential when striving to reach your highest potential in writing. I feel that as a future teacher, I would automatically understand the challenges my students face in writing because I started taking writing seriously at an early age.

The picture book that I chose to blog about is See Me Run by Paul Meisel because it is an enjoyable book that demonstrates true happiness among some canine dogs. These dogs enjoyed an outing in the park where it was plenty of room to be themselves. This is something that is a major part of every dog happiness. Dogs tend to discover a lot of things when they are running around digging so these brilliant dogs discovered a mother lode of bones. The story basically depicts the true action of dogs loving to run. They run through mud and run into water to get cleaned up. This story was humorous to me when the dogs was digging and found fossil bones which caused the dogs to take off running again. The illustrations in this book is beyond marvelous because children would be able to get a visual on what the dogs may do next. There was also a lot of repetitions in this story as the dogs run and play. Repetition is how a lot of children learn language development. The book that I chose from ...

The book that I chose from realistic fiction is Bad Girls Never Say Die by Jennifer Mathieu because it reminds me of the challenges girls face today in urban neighborhoods. This particular book shared insights on some of the challenges women faced in the 60s in Houston. There were only a few choices for women such as be a good girl and get married or be a bad girl and live your life. A 15 year old girl name Evie is from a working class white family but she became a bad girl when her sister wedding navigated her away from home. Things were complicated for Evie because she had a neighbor name Juanita that took her under her wings but she appeared to be a bad influence. Juanita appeared to be a bad influence because she smokes, drinks, wears intense makeup, and runs with a rough negative crowd. There was loyalty in their relationship but Evie feels uncertain of her place. There was a rich girl name Diane from a wealthy part of town that ended up the killing a attacker that tried to a...

The first book that I decided to blog about is The Very Bumpy Ride by Michaela Muntean because it is a very funny book that kids was love since they have very good memories riding the school bus. The book has funny pictures and it is primarily about a Rumble Town bus that carried people to the county fair. This story was hilarious because the bus stopped six times on Bumble Street where at every bus stop there was a person carrying something with them to the county fair. It was also animals that were in need for a ride. The bus driver decided to stop and assist a lady with her car by pulling the car behind the bus and everybody else assisted by pushing the bus up the hill. When the bus got up the hill it rolled all the way down the hill with nobody on the vehicle. This turned out to be very devastating because all the things people brought with them to the county fair was scattered everywhere on the bus. This story basically teaches to never ride on a crowdy bus to a county fair a...

The first book that I chose to blog about is the Tiger and Badger by Emile Jenkins. I chose this book because it reminds me so much of childhood friendships. The book is specifically about friendships and it teaches that even best friends can repetitively get in arguments and still maintain a close friendship. Tiger and Badger were the type of friends that would fight and argue over toys, chairs, and even oranges but always found ways to make one another laugh to forget about the anger. They would go back and forth saying really mean things to one another but always made up in the end. The book reminded me of my childhood when I literally fought with friends and played with them the next day as if nothing ever happened. I observed in this story that Tiger and Badger were hardly ever friendly toward one another but maintained a close friendship. Their confrontations with one another was never resolved in a healthy manner because they never talked things out with one another. They w...

The book that I chose to blog on is Pinkerton, Behave by Steven Kellogg. I chose to blog on this book because it is about a wild dog that struggles to follow all of the owner's commands. It reminds me of a child that always done the opposite of what their parents are instructing them to do but end up doing one major thing that will tremendously help their parents. Pinkerton was the type of dog that honestly could not understand his owner's commands. When the owner was telling the dog to come he jumped out of a window knocking over plants and everything. The owner felt very desperate and overwhelmed concerning this dog so they took him to a obedience school. This school did not benefit Pinkerton at all because he flunked out in record time. It was actually awesome that the dog flunked out because a burglar breaks into their home and the dog was able to put all of his wild bad habits to great use by catching the burglar. This book touched me in a very special way because animals...

Blog 2 My Friend Rabbit

The title of my honor book is My Friend Rabbit by Eric Rohmann and he is also the illustrator. The illustrations of this book is interesting because it displays a rabbit and a mouse playing with a toy airplane and it get stuck in a tree. This illustration felt like a reflection of my childhood because I use to play with toy airplanes at Lockhart Elementary School. When I observed the illustrations on this particular book the rabbit appeared to be full of trouble but very smart and spontaneous. The illustrations showed the rabbit randomly coming up with a spontaneous plan to get the airplane out of the tree such as stacking animals on top of one another. The rabbit appeared to be trouble with this plan because it was obvious that the animals was going to fall eventually. The animals was extremely angry with the rabbit when they fell and I noticed the mouse had to immediately come to the rabbit rescue because the other animals was reaching for him out of frustration. The background ...
